The 2021 Call of Duty title Call of Duty: Vanguard is a fun FPS experience both alone and with friends, be it the regular multiplayer game or the infamous Zombies game mode.

Call Of Duty: Vanguard: Everything You Need To Know About Multiplayer Split Screen And Zombies Split Screen

But is multiplayer available in the form of split-screen so you and your friends can have a good old-fashioned game night on the couch with Vanguard?

In this article, we are going to be looking at whether split-screen is accessible in Call of Duty: Vanguard- in both the multiplayer mode and the Zombies mode- and how to access it if so. Let’s get started.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available on PS4, PS5 and Xbox

CoD: Vanguard Multiplayer Split Screen

Whilst the campaign of Vanguard does not have split-screen support, the multiplayer mode does have split-screen both locally and online.

However, you will only be able to access split-screen on consoles. Sorry PC players, but there is currently no split-screen available on your platform!

Seeing as it has been over a year since the game came out, it is probably best if PC gamers don’t hold their breath for split screen coming anytime soon to Vanguard.

You can play split screen on your Xbox and PlayStation consoles, including the previous generation- Xbox One and PlayStation 4- as well as the current generation, those being the Xbox Series X, the Xbox Series S, and the PlayStation 5.

The split-screen mode for consoles can support up to four players, making it a great choice if you want to play with several friends.

Keep in mind that if you want to play split-screen online with your friends, then the guest players will need their own online accounts.

For Xbox, this would be an Xbox Live subscription and for PlayStation, this would be a PlayStation Plus subscription.

Enabling Split Screen In CoD: Vanguard

Online Split-Screen

To enable split screen whilst playing online, you first need to sign in to Call of Duty: Vanguard with an online account. However, in order to access the two screens, you will need to sign in to two online accounts with two controllers respectively.

In order to do this, both of these accounts will need to have either Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus attached to it.

Next, head on over to the multiplayer menu and simply press A on your Xbox controller or X on your PlayStation controller to join a lobby.

You should now be able to play split-screen online!

Local Split-Screen

The process to activate local split-screen isn’t too different from activating it online.

Once you have signed in to the game, go into the multiplayer menu and press either A (Xbox) or X (PlayStation) on your console controller. This should create a local game.

To join the game and activate the split-screen, you will need to sign in to a different account via a separate controller.

Once you have done this, press A or X on your console controller, and you should join the game with the split-screen activated.

So there is everything that you need to know about accessing split-screen in Call of Duty: Vanguard, both online and locally for the PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Let’s now look at whether split-screen is possible when it comes to the Zombie mode in the game.

Is Split-Screen Possible In Call Of Duty: Vanguard Zombies?

The zombie game mode in CoD: Vanguard is considered to be an expansion of the Dark Aether storyline that was established in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Zombies is often thought to be one of the highlights of the Call of Duty games, thanks to the fun that is to be had gunning down the hellish creatures with friends.

However, this isn’t possible with Call of Duty: Vanguard as- surprisingly- there is no split-screen mode.

This is sure to be disappointing to those who enjoy playing the game with friends via split-screen, but there is always the chance that it could be added in the future, so don’t be too disheartened.

If split-screen isn’t added to the game, you will have to make do with taking turns playing zombies with your friends!

Final Thoughts

So there you have everything that you need to know about split-screen in Call of Duty: Vanguard, including how to access it both online and locally in multiplayer and whether it is supported in the Zombies game mode.

Even though you can’t play split-screen in the Zombies mode of CoD: Vanguard, there is still plenty of fun to be had in split-screen with the general multiplayer mode.
