When you’re in the heat of battle in a first-person shooting game, or fought your way through multiple levels to get to a key moment in a game, you want to have the best visibility to come out on top. This is where your FOV comes into play.
FOV stands for Field of View, and this is important for giving you an advantage during gameplay against your opponents.
Perhaps surprisingly, many FPS (First-Person Shooter) gamers are unaware of the importance of playing with the correct FOV.
The higher your FOV is, the faster you can react to certain events within the game. The good news is that you can easily adjust your FOV in various games.
Therefore, if you feel your FOV is obstructed or not as wide or high as it can be, you can easily go into your settings and change it to something that suits your preferences.
And, yes! You can adjust your FOV in Warzone (see also ‘What Is The Best SMG In Warzone?‘)! By changing this, your whole Warzone gaming experience can improve significantly. All you have to do is learn how to change the FOV. And, that’s where we come in.
In today’s post, we will be discussing how to adjust your FOV in Warzone by guiding you through everything you need to know about what FOV is and why it’s important.
So stick around to change that FOV, and your opponents will not stand a chance!
FOV (Field Of View) – What Is It?
As the term suggests, your Field of View is what determines the width and height of what you perceive in a game. The lower the FOV is, the more focus there will be on what is immediately in front of you.
The higher the FOV is, the more you will be able to see your surroundings using your peripheral vision. Just by adjusting your FOV slightly, you may be able to see so much more, such as enemies attacking from the side.
Simply put, increasing or decreasing your Field of View will increase or decrease your peripheral vision. In other words, you will be able to see more or less.
Whilst most people automatically think that having a higher FOV is the most advantageous in gameplay, it can affect your game’s performance.
Many players don’t feel comfortable playing with a very high FOV. If you’re using a mid to low budget computing system to game with, your game could become slower if you change your FOV to the highest setting.
The only issue is that there is no setting that is the benchmark for what will affect our system. That is why we recommend trialing a few settings first and testing them to see if they affect your gaming system.
If it starts to lag (see also ‘What Is Latency In Gaming?‘) or you feel uncomfortable with the FOV, you can simply revert to the default setting again. Although your Field of View may not be as large, your gaming experience may be better and the performance will be more stable.
Change Your Field of View in Warzone
Many gamers put off changing the Field of View in their games because they think it will be too much hassle and overcomplicated. Whilst some games may be a little trickier than others, changing the FOV in Warzone is pretty straightforward.
Not only is adjusting the FOV in Warzone simple, but you don’t have to restart your game, as you do with some gaming titles. Therefore, if you’re mid-game and feel like your FOV could be better.
You can simply change it to see if an adjustment works better for you and your performance.
Here’s how to change FOV in Warzone:
- Navigate to the Warzone main menu and open this up. If you’re in the middle of the game, you can press the Esc key.
- Select “Options” in the bottom left of the screen.
- Now, go to the “Graphics” tab and open this up.
- Once you have the Graphics tab open, click on the “Quality” tab at the top of the screen.
- The first setting you will see will be “Field of View (FOV).”
- Click on this to change the Field of View value. To do this, simply slide the slider to where you want it, or click on the number to enter the value you prefer. Just bear in mind that the maximum FOV value you can set in Warzone is 120.
You can also use an advanced setting via the “Advanced” menu on the screen. You will see a setting “ADS Field of View.” On this, you have two options – Independent and Affected.
BY choosing Independent, you will keep the FOV when aiming down sights using the default FOV (80). BY choosing Affected, the ADS FOV (see also ‘What Does ADS Mean In Gaming?’) will be adjusted to the Field of View setting you entered earlier on.
When playing Warzone, we recommend increasing your Field of View to the maximum 120, or as close to this value as possible. This will allow you to see more of your surroundings at all times, and increase your chances of seeing enemies all around you before it’s too late.
But, as we stated above, keep in mind that increasing your FOV to this extent may result in performance issues, such as graphical artifacting or lower framerates on your console or PC.
If this occurs, simply readjust your FOV to its default or lower settings.
Quick note – Currently, you can not change your Field of View on Warzone when playing on PlayStation or Xbox. But, we have high hopes this feature will be introduced sooner, rather than later.
Changing the Field of View (FOV) on Warzone can help improve your visibility of what is happening all around you. Just keep in mind that it can also impede your system’s performance and it is not currently possible to do so on games consoles.
