Halo Infinite is a great game that hundreds of thousands of people across the globe enjoy playing. The game was first introduced back in 2021 and is a first-person shooter game that was published by Xbox Game studios.
It’s pretty highly rated and his been a very popular game across the board.

There’s just one slight issue. Some players are encountering an error where the user is being banned from playing the game.
Typically this ban comes with a timer, but sometimes it’ll just say User Is Banned. And since for a lot of people this is unexpected and coming out of nowhere it is frustrating, to say the least.
Being unfairly banned from a game that you’re really enjoying playing is possibly the worst fate you can imagine for a gamer, right?
And it’s going to leave you feeling downright offended, extremely annoyed, and just downright fed up. Why should you have to take a break from your favorite game for no reason?
In this article, we’ll take a closer look at what exactly is going on.
What The Error Is & How It Works
So, I did a little digging, and from the research that I’ve done, it seems as if players are getting the ban whenever they leave a game. This is pretty poor on all accounts. Life is a thing, and sometimes it gets in the way.
You’re not always going to be able to finish your games completely. We’ve all been in the middle of a game and been shouted down for food by our parents for example.
And this ban comes into place if you quit the game early, you shut down the game, or you even just accidentally hit the home button and leave the game.
The good news is that developers are aware of the issue and the glitch is in the process of being fixed. So there’s positivity on the horizon, not that that helps us much for now.
The only other piece of information that I can give you that may allow you to take three deep breaths, calm down, and keep you from throwing your controller across the room (I know we’ve all been there) is that the ban won’t ever be permanent.
It’s a temporary ban that at its longest will only ever last 16 hours.
Now, that is still a ridiculously long time really, for just shutting down a game. That essentially will stop you from playing for the rest of the day, and maybe even part of tomorrow too. But it is just a glitch in the system, and it won’t be there forever.
And hey, 16 hours is much better than a lifetime ban. At least you can play it again within the next day or two.
From what I can see how long the ban persists for will depend entirely on the level of intensity of the errors of the game.
Now, I do completely agree with you all that this is not a great look for Halo Infinite right now, but I’m just hoping that the developers can tackle this issue sooner rather than later.
Different Ban Timers
So let’s take a look at the different ban times that you can expect.
- 1st Ban – 5 minutes
- 2nd Ban – 15 minutes
- 3rd Ban – Close to 30 minutes
- 4th Ban – Close to one hour
- 5th Ban – 3 hours
- 6th Ban – A maximum of 16 hours
Final Thoughts
Getting that ban error is certainly going to cause a feeling of dread in a player’s stomach. Especially because sometimes it won’t actually let you know how long the ban is going to be. But luckily, for the first few bans, it’s not the end of the world.
Don’t get me wrong, it still needs fixing, it’s still frustrating, and it’s downright annoying regardless of how long you’re banned for. But a five-minute ban really won’t make that much of a difference to matters, and neither will 15 minutes.
When you get to the 30 minutes to an-hour mark, the line is getting crossed a little, and a 3-16 hour ban for exiting a game is just downright insane.
I’m really hoping now that the developers are aware of the issue that it will get fixed pretty soon.
It’s definitely something they’ll want to work on quickly if they want to avoid losing customers and a general fan base so I think they’ll fix the glitch as soon as possible.
However, for now, you’re just going to really try to make an effort to complete each game without exiting before it finishes. I understand that this is not always possible, but for now, it looks like the only option to try and avoid being banned from the game.
